About Me

  • I want to be a teacher to be able to make a difference in childrens lives. I have seen firsthand the difference a single positive adult can make in the life of a child at-risk. My passion is working with  students furthest from opportunity, whether that be students on IEPs, students who are MLLs, or students who are living in poverty. I believe every student has a chance to succeed, and I look forward to seeing those accomplishments. The educational field has gotten so negative and I hope to be a light for future educators so they can see that teaching the future is something that can be beautiful.
  • When reviewing the syllabus two things stuck out to me. The teacher I aspire to be "establishes a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students." The teacher I establish to be also "plans and delivers effective instruction, and appropriately assess learning for a diverse population of students." Working through these two outcomes can help model and shape the teacher I aspire to be.
  • I will be doing my practicum in a Middle School on the West Side of the city I live in. This is a Title 1 school with all of the population recieving free lunches. This school has a large population of MLLs. In the past year this school has went from a turn-around school to a performance level. There has been many accomplishments and improvements! I will be observing in a couple of classes. A 6th grade science class, a 6th grade social studies class, and working with some students on IEPS. The science and social studies classes contain the same students just in different hours. About 75% of the class are on IEPs and/or are MLLs.
  • I am still trying to figure out how to work Blogger, so I apologize for the not so aesthetic page.

  1. Sydni, you are doing great. You will get the hang of it. I am excited to see what you discover in your practicum!
